Vayam, have achieved 4.2 Million transactions. Vayam’s CSCs are
strategic change agents in lives of people residing in rural Uttar Pradesh.
Jan Seva Kendra, also referred as Common Service Centres (CSC) is one of the largest Government approved online service delivery channels in the world. It’s a strategic cornerstone of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) as part of Government's commitment to introduce to rural citizen of India, a multiple-services-single-window delivering Government & Private essential Services. Common Services Centre (CSC) is one of the core ICT enabled initiatives of the Government of India (GoI) under its National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), which aims at setting up service booths in 100,000 villages across India. The programme is being rolled out across the country by respective state governments through Public-Private-Partnership (PPP). It is perceived as an ideal modelfor delivery of services and information by public and private enterprises as a sustainable business model with the dual objective of revenue yielding as well as socio-economic upliftment in rural areas.
Vayam Technologies Ltd. is deploying this project across 30 districts of Uttar Pradesh, which collectively account for 5600 Common Services Centres, named Jan Seva Kendra, as part of the initiative of Department of Information Technology and Government of Uttar Pradesh.
A retired Army Serviceman, Durvijay Singh became a VLE in October 2012. As a Subedar Clerk for the Indian Army, Mr. Singh has not only served in different parts of the country but also in Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Maldives. Post retirement, he returned to his native village. An advertisement in a daily newspaper about the CSC scheme caught his eye and he wanted to be a part of it because he felt that Jan Seva Kendra is the best way to serve the people. He proudly mentions that having served his country for twenty eight years, serving the nation has become a habit and becoming a VLE is the best opportunity he could have hoped for.
Achievements: Durvijay Singh is proud to see the increasing number of people who are benefiting from his centre. Services that cover banking, PAN card application and health have made lives easier for people in his village. He keeps encouraging youngsters in his village to become VLEs.
Nineteen year old Narendra is running a Jan Seva Kendra with great success. A student of BA second year, Narendra is one of the youngest VLEs in his district. In six months’ time, his centre has recorded the highest number of transactions in his district. Such tremendous progress in a short span of time has made him an inspiration for many who want to be associated with the VLE scheme. Being the eldest son in the family, he has huge responsibilities. Apart from completing his education, Narendra has big dreams for his siblings and is supporting them in their studies. His father is happy that he has chosen a rewarding career and is assured of his future.
Shabnam is a socially active woman. She has worked under WHO as a DOT provider and was awarded a certificate of excellence for her dedicated work. Shabnam became a VLE in 2011. Her husband, Akbar Ali, assists her in running the centre and together they have made their Jan Seva Kendra a huge success in their district.
Achievements: Shabnam’s Jan Seva Kendra has become widely popular. Her role is not just limited to providing various services, but also to keep the villagers well informed about job vacancies, examination results and raise public issues. Shabnam has made her centre a medium to address grievances of those in need. She mentions the case of a helpless widow whose grievances lodged through her CSC was addressed immediately by the authorities. She indicates that a large proportion of young men in her village are working in gulf countries. To enable their families to stay in touch with them she has popularized video conferencing in her centre. Shabnam feels proud to be financially independent.
Akhilesh Kumar has been successfully running his Jan Seva Kendra since September, 2012. Despite his physical difficulty, Akhilesh is an ambitious person and wants his centre to bring change in the society. He was working as a typist after completing his graduation. He has also completed a basic course in computer programming from an ITI. As a socially aware individual, Akhilesh was impressed with the potential of NeGPProgramme. He wanted to bring the benefits of e-Governance to people around him and Jan Seva Kendra gave him the perfect opportunity to do so. He gives credit of his success to the blessings of the people around him. Vayam has given him a laptop as a token of appreciation for successful delivery of services as a VLE despite his physical limitations. Akhilesh wants to operate his centre to the best of his abilities. He is constantly striving to use his knowledge and skills to accomplish exemplary work.
